Chapter 1 - Establishing your Major
Your MAJOR is your focused area of study. Through both required and elective classes, you will have the opportunity to explore your interests, identify areas of future study, and select a path for a career.
Many students begin college knowing their MAJOR. Others need time to explore. Still, others will change their minds once they begin taking classes.

Undecided About Your Major
Once you choose a major, determine the degree or certificate you want to pursue:
- Certificate
- Technical Diploma
- Associate Degree
Most associate’s degrees (AA, AAS and AS) require a minimum of 60 credits. Most technical diplomas require a minimum of 45 credits. Certificates typically require a minimum of 30 credits.
