Position: Adjunct (Part-time) Instructor—Fine Art (digital art)
Department: Academics, Career and Technical Education
Reports to: Chair of English, Humanities & Fine Art
Position Summary
Nunez Community College is seeking a part-time (adjunct) studio instructor of digital arts who will prepare, support, and deliver instruction of courses in the Fine Art program to a diverse student body in on-campus studio classes. The adjunct instructor will also contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and student advisement activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide instruction in face-to-face classes, including preparing and delivering curricula and supporting and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Provide dual enrollment instruction Face-to-Face at East Jefferson High School
- The ability to teach most courses in the college’s Fine Art program, especially Introduction to Digital Art, Intermediate Digital Art, and Digital Photography
- The ability to maintain an art studio environment and assist students in developing technical skills that advance artistic goals
- Prepare students to take Adobe certification exams
- Coordinate Adobe certification exam
- Foster student learning, development, and workplace readiness through quality instruction and mentoring/advising activities
- Participate in assessment at the program, departmental, and college level for ongoing improvement and in relation to special tasks or projects
- Assist Program Chair with scheduling of Fine Art studio courses
- Other duties as assigned by the Dean of Instruction or Vice Chancellor for Education, Training, and Student Success
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
- An earned Master’s degree, from a regionally accredited institution, in Fine Art studies or a related field (MFA or MA in studio art)
Required Experience
- Expertise in using Adobe Photoshop, After Effects, and Premier
- Demonstrated success in training or education
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of the content area and the ability to teach it effectively
- Effective classroom management, including maintaining a positive learning environment
- Records Management
- Knowledge and commitment to institutional mission and values and the ability to work with stakeholders across the college to achieve and uphold them
