Position: Chief People Officer

Position Summary
The Chief People Officer is an executive-level role overseeing the operations and initiatives that affect employees and the campus culture as a whole. The Chief People Officer will provide vision, direction, and leadership in the formulation of policy recommendations, procedural systems, and strategies to achieve optimal services to the college employees. This position is responsible for planning and directing all Human Resources, IT, Communications, Title IX and ADA functions.
In addition, the incumbent will engage in strategic management, workforce planning, performance management and effective employee relations. The incumbent will serve as a change agent inside the college with a persistent focus to embed behaviors and actions that unite and institute positive culture. The position has a focus on providing a positive impact to employees, students and community members, resulting in a sustainable, repeatable, and deliberate approach to growth and excellence. In addition, the position is tasked with keeping the organization focused on the stated commitment of the strategic plan.
The Chief People Officer with have an appreciation and understanding for academic culture gained through experience in higher education.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the Human Resources, IT, Communications, Title IX and ADA departments. Supervise the department heads in each of the above departments. Develop long-term and short-term goals for achieving optimal services to the College by the Human Resources, IT, Communications, Title IX and ADA department.
- Engage the organization in managing relationships with a persistent focus on embedded behavior and actions to unite departments in the college utilizing the colleges Living Our Values framework.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement by encouraging professional excellence among staff and faculty and promote an organizational culture of customer service, innovation, and quality.
- Oversee succession planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement, on and off boarding processes, wellness initiatives, and all employee recognition programs. Evaluate and provide strategic advice on the impact of the introduction of new programs/strategies.
- Support the Chancellor in strategic analysis and planning. Guide and support leaders in their role as cultural leaders in the transformation journey. Establish the approaches and the implementation by working with leaders on messages, reinforcing, recommendations for recognition and driving the culture change forward.
- Facilitate working together across identified silos, instill the process of change, and change management using accountability measures. This offers the potential to align various initiatives and processes for the successful growth and excellence set forth in the strategic plan.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Communications, Business or other related field.
- 10+ years of high level administrative management experience in higher education.
- Extensive experience working in HR and managing people.
Preferred Education and Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Human Resources, Management, Communications, Business or other related field.
- PHR or SPHR Certification.

Physical Demands: When Applicable
- Ability to work in excess of 40 hours a week, which may include nights and weekends.
- Ability to view a computer screen for long periods of time.
- Ability to function in a high-pressure, stressful environment and meet stringent deadlines.
- Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
- Ability to carry <25 lbs., stand, sit, reach, bend, climb, reach and push/pull.
