POSITION: Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives
DEPARTMENT: Chancellor's Office
REPORTS TO: Chancellor
Position Summary:
The Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives will provide vision, direction, and leadership by serving and reporting to the Chancellor. The ED of Strategic Initiatives will plan, implement, and execute the strategic vision of Nunez Community College regarding programmatic and/or operational initiatives. The successful candidate will engage in collaborative initiatives campus wide to assist in achieving the college mission and values.
Education:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field from an accredited institution. 5 years of work experience developing and implementing solutions with a focus in strategy and/or operations.
Responsibilities:
- Execute projects, plan, and direct all Project Management and special projects in accordance with the needs of the college.
- Interpret the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project’s life cycle.
- Work closely with the Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration in regard to oversight of campus projects at both the state and institutional level for state reporting and compliance.
- Work with all Cabinet members to assist in the assessment and management of procedural systems, institutional projects, and strategies to achieve optimal services to college employees and the college at large.
- Provide a positive impact to employees and customers, resulting in a sustainable, repeatable, and deliberate approach to growth and excellence.
- Oversee and develop long-term and short-term goals for successful and impactful project management for existing and prospective institutional projects as related to investments in Facilities and campus infrastructure, development, and expansion.
- Collaborate with department heads, Human Resources, VCFA, Communications, Title IX, and ADA areas to ensure compliance and communication of personnel related issues.
- Engage the organization in managing relationships with a persistent focus on embedded behavior and actions to unite silo-based issues in the college utilizing the colleges Standards of Practice.
- Guide and support leaders in their role as cultural leaders in the transformation journey.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, mutual respect, innovation, and continuous improvement by encouraging professional excellence among staff and faculty and promote an organizational culture of customer service, innovation, and quality.
- Facilitate working together across identified silos, instill the process of change, and change management using accountability measures.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- A steadfast commitment to the success of Nunez Community College.
- Experience managing organizational and state projects.
- Experience in state reporting and managing compliance.
- Ability to manage at all levels, coordinating with numerous departments within the college.
- Prior successful experience leading, supervising, and mentoring professional managers.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
- Ability to forge successful relationships and partnerships.
- Ability and willingness to delegate effectively and to hold direct reports accountable.
- Skilled decision-maker, with transparency in decision-making and management.

- Ability to work independently as well as lead multiple project teams.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, planning and problem-solving skills with ability to prioritize drive and complete multiple projects under stringent deadlines, and respond to changing priorities.
