Both registration for the Summer and Fall terms and scholarship applications are open now at Nunez Community College in Chalmette.
A full slate of on-campus and online classes is available for both the Summer and Fall 2022 semesters for first-time students, continuing students and transfer students. Summer classes begin June 1 with Fall classes to follow beginning August 15.
Both the Summer and Fall terms will also offer two abbreviated Mini-Sessions, during which students can complete courses for full credit in half the normal time. Summer Mini-Session A will begin June 1 with Mini-Session B beginning July 5. Fall Mini-Session A will begin August 15 with Mini-Session B beginning October 12.
Courses for all of the above terms can be viewed at Nunez.edu/schedule. Nunez Student Success Coaches are available to assist students with their college applications, financial aid applications, and registering for classes. A full lineup of institutional scholarships is also available to be applied toward students’ tuition and fees for the Fall semester. Applications are open now at Nunez.edu/scholarships.
15 various scholarships are available to up to 30 students and include the Chancellor’s Scholarship, awarded by our Chancellor to two students beginning in the Fall semester in the amount of $1000 per semester and renewable up to four semesters; and the Nunez Academic Scholarship, awarded to three students beginning in the Fall semester in the amount of $1000 per semester and renewable up to four semesters.
Some scholarships are program-specific and are available only to students in programs such as Culinary Arts, Process Technology, Coastal Studies and GIS Technology, Aerospace Manufacturing Technology, Teaching: Grades 1-5 or Care and Development of Young Children, and Fine Arts.
In addition to general education courses in math, English, sciences and humanities, programs of study at Nunez include: Aerospace Manufacturing Technology, Business Information Technology, Care and Development of Young Children, Coastal Studies and GIS Technology, Culinary Arts and Culinary Entrepreneurship, Electrical Construction, Emergency Medical Services Education, General Studies, HACR (Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration), Industrial Maintenance, Instrumentation Technician, Louisiana Transfer Degree, Medical Coding and Billing, Nursing and Nursing Assistant, Paralegal Studies, Patient Care Technician, Process Technology, Teaching: Grades 1-5, and Welding.
Most Nunez courses are transferable thanks to articulation agreements with 11 other colleges and universities within the state.
