Nunez Community College is secure following a bomb threat on the morning of July 6.
According to the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office (SBSO): “The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office, along with the St. Bernard Fire Department, responded to a call for service this morning around 10:45 a.m. at Nunez Community College in Chalmette in response to a bomb threat received at the college, Sheriff James Pohlmann said.
Deputies quickly responded to the scene, evacuated everyone from the campus and secured all buildings.
Sheriff Pohlmann said nothing suspicious was found on campus, but the investigation is ongoing to determine where the threat initiated.”
Nunez will resume normal on-campus operations at 7:30 a.m. on July 7.
Nunez extends its sincere thanks to SBSO and SBFD for their prompt and thorough response. Nunez faculty and staff are also to be commended for assisting with an orderly evacuation of all buildings, including ushering students to safety.
