The Academic Achievement Award for highest GPA in all nursing courses went to Jada Ventris.

“Rest assured, this is not an easy accomplishment,” said Nunez Nursing Director Brittney Zaffuto of Ventris’s award. “This is a huge academic accomplishment to be celebrated.”

The Florence Nightingale Award, chosen by the nursing faculty as the student who “demonstrates the qualities of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing” went to Michael Joseph.

“(Michael) has been described by the nursing faculty as someone who is very intelligent and most importantly, caring. Throughout his time here, he has shown empathy, compassion, leadership, and enthusiasm for the nursing profession. He is the true definition of passion and drive for the pursuit of nursing education,” said Zaffuto

The Spirit Award, given to the “class cheerleader,” went to Zabrelle Howard.

“(Zabrelle) was often a source of peace for her classmates before a test. They described her as the glue that kept the class together from the start,” said Zaffuto.

Nursing Instructor Melanie Schmill, faculty representative for the Student Nurses Association, also presented a special stole and cord to SNA President Elroy Duncan.
