On behalf of the Super Bowl LIX Host Committee and the NFL, Nunez Community College’s Workforce Director was surprised with two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in recognition of his years spent changing people’s lives for the better.

Brian Gibson is the point person at Nunez for the Will To Skill program, a training initiative fully funded by Venture Global to provide free workforce training, including industry-based credentials, to citizens of Plaquemines Parish, where one of Venture Global’s liquefied natural gas export facilities is located.

Venture Global pays for the training and Nunez provides the instructors, but Gibson is the man that ties it all together. Across fifteen cohorts (and counting), more than 175 Plaquemines residents have been able to improve their job prospects via free training and certifications. And along the way, Gibson has served as “therapist, mentor, friend, father figure and a cheerleader” to those students as Venture Global Senior Manager of Development Charlie Burt said while making the surprise presentation.

“Brian has poured his heart and soul into the Will To Skill program,” said Burt. “The time and dedication that Brian gives to making sure people are successful when given the opportunity is something incredibly special.”

And with that, Burt and Jay Cicero, President and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, which serves as the Super Bowl LIX host committee staff, presented Gibson with two giant prop tickets to Super Bowl LIX.

“I’m so very grateful for Nunez. I’m so very grateful for Venture Global. But more importantly I’m very grateful for each and every person who has gone through Will To Skill, who has allowed them to make a difference in their lives,” said Gibson.

“He hit the ground running and made an impact through our entire community,” said Nunez Chancellor Tina Tinney, Ed. D. “We’re so fortunate to have him on board and to have partners like Venture Global helping us to carry out our mission.”

A video of the surprise ticket presentation can be viewed at Nunez.edu and Venture Global’s page on X, formerly Twitter.
