Marine Debris Removal Design Contest
Nunez Community College is conducting a Marine Debris Removal Design Contest. This design contest is to develop a prototype to remove post-storm marine debris from the Mississippi River, its delta and barrier islands. You will be introduced to the problem, need, the Mississippi River itself, and exposed to the limitations the river presents in designing debris removal prototypes. As a part of the competition, you will have access to the Nunez SkillShop and $662.50 to be used toward supplies in the development of your prototype. Teams are limited to two people per team and 8 teams will be selected for the challenge.
The top three teams will continue to work with Nunez Faculty and Staff to further develop the prototype and prepare a pitch for Start Up St. Bernard In August 2025.
Through this application, the participants agree to follow all rules and safety procedures as set forth to work while working in the field as it pertains to the Mississippi River, the delta and barrier islands as well as within the SkillShop.
Applications must be received by April 8. Contest will run from April 12 through June 28.
